A few months ago I decided it was time I started doing more to help others, this is when I decided to donate blood. Okay, it doesn't sound pretty but it's an amazing thing to do and it helps save so many lives so I was sold. A few weeks ago I made an appointment for yesterday afternoon and I was counting down the days slightly nervous but mainly okay. I read everything online to prepare myself, from what to do before my donation to afterwards and what to expect.
I was told to have plenty to eat and drink (non-alcoholic of course) before my donation, well you don't need to tell me twice! I turned up at the centre, checked in and gave all of my information to a nurse. I was given a glass of water and an information booklet and I took a seat in a waiting area. When I was called for my health check up I was lead behind a private screen which made me feel much more comfortable as everything was confidential. After answering all of the questions a donor carer pricked my finger and tested my iron levels.
While I was waiting to donate I will admit I was terrified! I felt completely fine up until this point but it suddenly hit me that I was really about to do this. Luckily all the staff were so lovely and understanding as they knew it was my first time. I went to the donor chair/bed and I was shaking! My nurse talked me through everything and calmed me down so much that as soon as she put the needle in my arm I felt fine. It took about ten minutes for the blood bag to be full with one pint.
The whole process was easy and relatively pain free. When I was done I got a drink and a choice of snacks while I sat with other donors. Every one was so lovely and friendly and it was amazing to see the amount of people who were willing to help others. I will definitely be donating again in four months time and I really, really would love for more young people to at least look into it!

Coloured Hair Care
I've recently gone from blonde hair to a bright orange/coppery colour and I am in love with it! It was a pretty big change and it really made me realise that it's time I started looking after my hair more, especially as I got it done in a salon instead of out of a bottle. Obviously I don't want it to fade so I decided to go and get some products specifically for coloured hair. My usual go-to shampoo and conditioner was always Hello Hydration by Herbal Essences because the blue colour helped keep my blonde hair blonde (as stupid as it sounds). As Superdrug are celebrating their 50th birthday I thought I'd take advantage of the price cuts and try something I wouldn't normally go for.
When choosing a shampoo I decided to try the newly released Essence ULTÎME Diamond Color Shampoo by Schwarzkopf. The packaging is really plain but it looks more expensive than it actually is. I got this product for £2.49 which is very reasonable, it should have been £4.99 which is more than I would normally spend on a single bottle of shampoo, especially if I'm getting a conditioner too. After my first use I instantly liked the shampoo, my hair is still at the stage where bits of dye are washing out and I end up with lovely orange water so now that I'm finally using a colour friendly shampoo I'm not as worried when it comes to washing it. The shampoo itself smelt nice and lathered really well so I didn't need to use a lot of it - which is a good thing considering the normal price and my budget!
Another product I bought was Garnier's Ultimate Blends Colour Illuminator Intensive Treatment. I was drawn to this because I originally wanted to buy the shampoo but there weren't any left. I'm not a massive fan of conditioner because it makes my hair go greasy the same day I wash it. As
soon as I saw it had Argan Oil in it I was sold. I honestly believe that Argan Oil is one of the best hair products around, I love it! The treatment claims to work in just one minute which sounds so good because I've used treatments in the past that take five minutes or more, so such a quick working product is perfect for me. The bottle is sleek and red in colour with a gold band around the top. The product smells amazing and a little goes a long way. As soon as I'd rinsed my hair it was so soft and completely tangle free, in fact it felt so good I didn't even need to use a rinse out conditioner which saved me shower time. After drying my hair was so shiny and the colour looked gorgeous (not bragging). I am in love with it and for only £2.99, usually £4.49 I will definitely be buying another bottle.
I love both of these products and the results I got were definitely worth the money! Give them a go and let me know what you think!
